Waiheke Seed Savers

Mission Statement

In order to assist in the maintenance generally of a high level of food crop bio diversity, we shall save the seeds of edible non-hybrid heirloom* plants which have adapted to Waiheke conditions.

*By heirloom plants we mean those older varieties which are known for their nutrition and disease resistance.

Aims and Objectives

Meetings

Meetings are held on the last Sunday of each month during the afternoon. We visit a different member's garden each month so we can view a variety of gardening techniques and plants.

Newsletters

Our newsletters contain information on plant propagation, seed saving techniques, upcoming events and the reports of the previous month's meeting and garden visit.

Membership

Annual membership is $5.00 which covers the cost of printing and posting the newsletters. All are welcome to join.
